Softening is usually done for the whole house. However, in the case of very hard water, the sodium value in the treated water may increase. Water hardness is usually determined as the concentration of alkaline earth metals. In the analysis, you will find it as the sum of calcium and magnesium. Its unit is mmol/l. However, it may happen that in the water analysis there will be other units, for example mval/l or German degrees of hardness.

Hard water is mainly a technical problem. From a health point of view, we recommend giving preference to harder drinking water, but even an increase in hardness is only beneficial to a certain extent.
Optimum is difficult to determine, that is why we follow the valid decree when designing treatment plants. We offer softening to our customers only if the hardness of the water exceeds the values recommended by the decree as amended or if the prevention of scale formation is their express request.
In addition, our home water softeners allow both fully softened and partially softened water to be taken. In the kitchen, the water flows only partially (or not at all) softened, and the service water in the house is completely softened. However, it is necessary to think about this division earlier and separate the cold water for the kitchen.

Both of these elements are not completely removed from the water, but only their content is reduced below a certain limit. These cations are the main creators of scale, i.e. deposits of deposits on the walls of pipes, washing machine drums, on taps and shower heads. They greatly reduce their service life and significantly increase the consumption of electricity.
3 ) Is it true that softening can cause an excessive increase in sodium in treated water?
Yes. Water softeners are typically regenerated with sodium chloride.
In the case of very hard water, sodium may in rare cases increase above the limit given by the decree as amended. Its high values are then associated with certain diseases (e.g. high blood pressure). However, we can also supply you with softeners based on ion exchange, where this influence will not occur.
